When you pause a YouTube video, the player controls don't disappear. That makes it really hard to take a clean screenshot of the video. The controls also block your view, which can get really annoying. Hyde is a simple Chrome extension that allows you to hide or show the video player controls easily.

If don't if the creator of the extension might ever read this. But Thank you very much dude. Simple and free to use. Does what it's intended for. I also really love reddit, I found this extention through reddit. But for me the problem of finding it was I did not know what those things ( youtube control player ) called, I did not even know what to search for. So I used a terminology I remembered from 3 years ago, HUD on GTAV5. So maybe something could be done so that people can find it more easily? Huge thanks again dude little update: I think you would get a ton more downloads if you make it easier for people to find your extension, maybe advertise it on youtube itself or show people how valuable it is as when someones watches lyrics, a movie, CS50 course in my situation, I would want to take a snipp, a screen shot without the youtube player controls. And a ton of other not-mentioned benefits. Good luck for everyone reading my review. P.S. I also wanted to know how much time was invested into making this extension
I love using this extension to watch sporting events/esports, as video duration often spoils the result! It works as intended, however would it be possible to include options to show the volume controls, options, etc.? Basically, an option to hide only the video progress bar.

used to work fine but recently stopped working on operagx which is a huge shame because this was very helpful :(
DO NOT INSTALL!!!!! this bad programm just caused a bug when watching a youtube video the ui would just start flickering like crazy...it took me a while to figure out what the hell was causing it.
On Brave the keybinding was not set by default, but I manged to setup.
I just installed to Chrome and Brave on Mac. Both are not working. When press ctrl+M, it just worked like a play and pause action. Video control did not disappeared at all. So disappointed. But I am not sure why it is working for others. Note: Both my Chrome and Brave were updated to latest version before I installed Hyde.
I absolutely love this extension. Worked great, and definitely useful. The only issue I've had recently is with the new Opera GX update, it no longer works on it. Opera GX is the browser I use, so this is unfortunate, but I'll still rate it 5 stars as this seems to only be an issue in Opera GX and no other browser.
