UPDATE: Had to remove a star for recently breaking the image context search for "Search Google for image." This option is only missing when I use this extension and set it to the default search engine. When I disable it and revert back to Google, everything works normally. This MUST be fixed for me to continue using this otherwise fantastic extension and alternative to Google; and I HATE that because I LOVE DDG! I love DuckDuckGo (DDG) and recently (mid 2018) switched to using them as my default search engine for all searches. They actually provide me (often times) with better results than Google, especially for images. I'm a huge fan, and their support team is very responsive as well. They quickly addressed a throttling issue affecting my searches at work and forcing me to wait longer between searches. DuckDuck GO GO GOOOO!!!! :)

REAL SEARCH-REAL INFORMATION-NOT FOR SALE-Been using duckduckgo for a few years and the results are noticeably different and better because it list results based on RELEVANCE, not on how much money a site pays in ads. This gives users solid info and small businesses/non-profits a chance to be seen. Information on the Internet needs to stay free and open to all. Your searches are your business. When using Google, they are target marketing to you all the time. The results are based on what they think you want and will like. Don't believe me, call someone with differing views than yourself and see what happens on different machines when both of you search the same exact thing. Your results will be dramatically different. Nonsense- Give the information-all sides- I'll sort it out and come to my own conclusions. This hand feeding people just what they want to hear leads us to division. There are many gray area in life. See all angles. THINK FOR YOURSELF. Privacy...you can fill in the rest. *Want to get intimate with someone real quick? No, not 'that' way, silly puppy. If you want to know someone's inner workings, take a look at their YouTube home page. Between their viewing on YouTube, Google searches, and browsing history, who and what they REALLY are is displayed on YT, with recommendations uncannily represented. Knows you better than your mom or best friend does. It's the PRINCIPLE~ wish the G didn't already know I secretly enjoy exploring abandoned farms, am obsessed with bubbles, want more self-confidence, and adore sloths. With DDG, it stays my business. Privacy, Freedom from monetized information...All matter. Don't let big money ruin the Internet. ~Jumps down from soap-box and bows humbly.~

The only problems I had with this app were with a particular network which blocked duckduckgo for some reason, but other than that (which this app has nothing to do with) it is fantastic! the transparency alone should be reason enough to install for anyone, not to mention the privacy!

I was close to rating this a 3 because it does one thing that drives me insane. If I start typing in a URL, it will auto-fill it. Great! Then I hit return and it gives me search results for that domain on DDG. That's terrible usability because it's never what I expect or want. What DDG user thinks that's normal behavior? Results are good, privacy is good, and you can add /g to your query to search Google anonymously.
