AI product readSecure locked-down browser environment for taking PSI online proctored exams
Enables secure, monitored online exam delivery by restricting browser capabilities (tab creation, window creation, extension enabling), capturing desktop/webcam/microphone, and providing real-time proctor communication during test sessions
User installs the extension, then launches a PSI proctored exam session. The extension activates a secure check-in flow: (1) system hardware/software check, (2) identity verification with ID photo, (3) agreements acceptance, (4) camera/microphone permission, (5) start test. During the exam, the extension locks down the browser (no new tabs/windows/extensions), streams webcam/screen to proctor, provides live chat with proctor, and supports break requests. After exam completion, the extension auto-closes.

- Target users
- Test-takers using PSI's online proctored examination platform / Candidates for professional certification exams, licensure tests, and other remotely proctored assessments
- The background worker and UI JS files are heavily minified, limiting ability to trace exact authentication flow logic
- Cannot fully determine if the OAuth2 flow authenticates the test-taker directly or uses service-to-service tokens after the user authenticates on PSI's website
- The externally_connectable localhost:50161 pattern suggests integration with a local PSI application, but the local app's role is unclear
MonetizationNo paid features detected
No evidence of paid features, subscriptions, premium tiers, or in-app purchases within the extension. All keyword hits for 'checkout' refer to exam completion (e.g., 'This test is completed. PSI Chrome Extension will auto-close in {{countdown}}'), not e-commerce payments. All 'pro' matches are fragments of 'proctor' terminology. No billing, Stripe, payment platform, upgrade, or premium feature references found anywhere in the source. PSI's exam scheduling is a separate business service, not gated within this extension.

- Reason
- The extension requires users to have a scheduled exam through PSI's platform. It communicates with PSI's OAuth2 authentication endpoints (hydra.bridge.psiexams.com/oauth2/auth, /oauth2/token) and auth token services (mps.bridge.psiexams.com/api/auth/token). The check-in flow includes identity verification (ID confirmation, photo match, reservation match). The extension itself has no login UI; authentication occurs on PSI's exam platform, and the extension operates as a secured proctoring environment once the exam session is initiated.
IF YOU ARE AN EDUCATOR LOOKING TO IMPLEMENT THIS JUST USE HONORLOCK. The room scan was annoying bc i had to do it three times bc the room was small and the video was laggy. The when the chat pops up it starts at the top every time so when your proctor messages you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the chat each time. There is no way to see if any questions are left unanswered without scrolling individually back through every question, and there is no way to see what you "bookmarked" (which is annoying during my 180 question exam)... At one point I swatted a fly swarming my face and my proctor told me that if I looked around again in my exam it would be terminated with a failing grade. the proctor was professional but very harsh.
This software is not great for online proctoring. It is clunky: Needing to ask the proctor how to access bookmarks, no list of questions and answers to easily see that the test taker has left any unanswered. Every time you "exit" it ways "changes may not be saved" which is confusing and stressful. Not impressed.
Getting set up with the web extension and allowances was a bit time consuming but it wasn't difficult and my proctor was very kind when guiding me through the room scan and troubleshooting
Going through the setup process was a nightmare. Overall I give my proctor a 4,because I said something out loud and was warned if it happens again my test would be cancelled. Other than that it was great.
The overall experience was good ,it took some time to complete to admission steps and show my area, and and my proctor helped me to troubleshoot an issue i had .
Horrible Experience!! Proctor made everything difficult
If I could give this a 0 I would, I spend over 40 minutes showing my office, after the 30 minute mark I just decided to switch rooms, I took my exam from the comfort of my dining room table. Proctors were extremely pushy and not helpful. I has to restart my exam (for some unknown reason) and had to show the room again. Oh, if you live with roommates or animals that make noise good luck. My dogs barked and my roommate announced that he was home so I got slapped with not one but 2 talking violations.
I have a really bad experience. I spend almost 40 minutes showing the room, this person was really rude and even comment that his/ her connection was bad. i ended up doing my test in a rush because i was at the library and they closed.
If I didn't have to restart the test and go through the whole process of being checked in 4 different times, i would say it wasn't bad. However, the first proctor in the beginning was very friendly, professional and right to the point. The other three i had to deal with, were a literal NIGHTMARE. I had to spin in circles for what felt like 20 minutes to show the walls, ceiling and floor MULTIPLE times. I live in a very small house mind you NOT A MANSION. This took so much time for absolutely no reason. I get they have to do their job but at this point i just felt like none of them really pay attention and just keep having you repeat everything or they just think its fun to waste peoples time and watch them repeat themselves and get annoyed by it. I feel like most people do the online to save themselves time due to having families they need to get back to and to save money on as. If I'm being completely honest, I would have save more time and been able to take care of my family sooner had i just drove 2 hours away and taken the test!!!
this was the strangest experience. i had to move my pillows off of my sofa and when i would put my hand to my chin or something to think i was told it was a violation. i read out loud a lot to process and that also violated me but that was the main reason i chose to proctor a test at home. when i readjusted my body position i was also told i was in a violation and my next one would terminate the test.
