This extension stops YouTube HTML5 and Flash players from auto-buffering videos. Using this add-on (extension) you can save bandwidth and also prevent YouTube on multiple tabs from buffering media simultaneously.
You will have to click on the player to allow buffering of the media files. Once a player is buffered, it can play multiple tracks. There is no need to activate the player on each new track (so you can easily watch playlists for instance).
Features:
1. Stop auto-playing on "/watch?v=" pages
2. Stop auto-playing on "/user/" pages
3. Stop auto-playing on "/channel/" pages

Starting today 17 Nov. 2023 the video starts in a black screen. EDIT: Thanks for the update!
Stops the video instead of pausing it, although "Pause the player instead of stopping it" is activated. Also plays 1 second of the video before stopping it.

Not working after the latest v96.0.4664.45 update. HELP?
This breaks timestamps feature eg. https://youtu.be/fzF-N0V9DsM?t=1148
I cannot praise this app enough. It's brilliant. I searched numerous trying to find out how to stop YouTube videos from Auto-Starting. Not to be confused with Auto-Playing. This app takes care of either. Auto-Play can be disabled within the current version of YouTube. Auto-Start is different. There's no off switch in YouTube or Google Chrome. If you, like me, do a search in Chrome and right click to open a video in a new tab, that's where Auto-Start becomes an issue. When the tab becomes active by you clicking on it, the video starts playing. That's a problem when I click tabs to multi-select them and move them to a new window. I end up with several videos running and that's super annoying. This app prevents any YouTube video from buffering, which shuts down Auto-Play and Auto-Start because the video can't play if it's not buffered. It does take a brief moment to buffer when you click play, but it's insignificant.
Good. But could you add an ability to stop in playlists only? (keep auto-play for single videos still active) --- EDIT --- ISSUE: If user has used a direct link to a youtube video with the some timestamp, then the plugin resets it (a start timestamp) on play (after initial stop). Could you fix it?
