High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

this is working really well. except for the massive scroll bars and miles of white space added on the the right and bottom of every page in 32 bit chrome windows 7 when in high contrast mode. please fix this./

Just makes EVERYTHING look bizarrely UGLY, and made images look as if they were those of alien beings/worlds. I profoundly HATED this extension, and didn't just turn it OFF--I dumped it completely!

I very much like the mono-chrome (greyscale) option. I always like my desktop, windows themed in 'shades of grey' like Enlightenment desktop. Also, it's easily enabled/disabled. But, I wish you would have kept the per-tab, all tabs option. Thank You. Landis.
Cuts down glare,and the graphics are helpful ,but the photo colours are weak,and difficult to perceive.
UPDATE October 2016 -- GMAIL STOPPED WORKING IN CHROME, AS DID ALL TEXT INPUT FIELDS IN CHROME. I searched and searched for a fix on Google forums, Windows 10 forums, etc. FOR WEEKS. By accident I discovered it was this extension. I'M SO SAD I LOVED IT BUT NOW MUST DISABLE IT. I removed it and re-added it hoping the last update in June would have fixed it. But no. Still broken. Would like to know if this crippling flaw will ever be fixed! This was my review after I added it to Chrome several years ago: ------------------------->>>>>This is the extension I've been searching for! My laptop only has a brightness control (no contrast), so I can only brighten or dim the miserable lack of text contrast. Most other plug-ins only reverse the display to white-on-black which sets my teeth on edge. I LOVE the "increase contrast" feature which fits my needs perfectly. Thanks to whomever you are who developed this! P.S. I have not experienced the "blank space rivers" reported below. But I've only just started using this extension. Hopefully the problem is fixed.
