High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

Like the concept but went back to IE or Firefox for high contrast. Seems to support natively with Windows settings. My only problem with this extension is the videos and photos are affected as well. If this doesn't bother you then this app is great.
WHY ISN'T THIS EXTENSION UPDATED? IT'S EXTREMELY OBVIOUS IT NEEDS A UPDATE. SEE THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS COMMENTS SECTION... Oh god, why.
It's great but please add an option to change background colour only.
Great extension. Although couple suggestions for improvement: - possibility to set permanent inverse for selected pages (sort of opposite to existing 'normal' option) - ignore images (as option) - increase performance (some website are becoming very slow)

Update 5/1/13 Lots of screen corruption on various websites and sometimes needs page refreshes to kick in. This has become unusable. Please fix!! Update 4/2/13 (Chrome v26): Still some images on Facebook (mainly thumbnails from weblinks?) are inverted. Also, there's some screen corruption when you use the mouse wheel or scroll with pages like Yahoo finance, JIRA, or other sites that use floating elements. ---------------- Works great but a lot of photos still get inverted (Facebook overlays, Google Reader). It'd be nice if you could be more specific about disabling for certain sites too rather than the entire domain. Even for Google apps you may want to invert the calendar but leave Google reader alone, and there doesn't appear to be an easy way to have that separate functionality.
Nice for just text, but it makes the pictures look bad.

Fantastic plug-in. Something I've always wanted but could never find properly. Everything's inverted except for photos. Thank you!!! One slight gripe is when opening a new window (say when you click on something to open a new window), it will go white for one second. Having spent much time staring at a black screen, that whiteness is blinding. Hopefully there will be a fix for that.
