Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Thanks gosh. 5 Stars to pump up the Backspace for the standard back function. But this add on isn't a solution. In my mind is BS Key for both. Usually for go back in the last viewed page or to cancel the text backwards. So. I hope that google give us back a key map without this add on. Bye

Works perfectly. Glad that I can do this again, but annoyed that this was changed without a way to toggle in the first place. Oh well, I guess.

This shouldn't be an extension. This should be a setting that I can toggle. Change the default and add a note that says "Change this behavior in Settings" under the "Use Alt + Left Arrow" graphic. Using extensions to add settings are NOT good design, proving once again that Google knows how to only make software that feels like it's forever in beta instead of actual polished software. If Google wanted to do something right, they would change the default to Alt + Left Arrow, but allow the user to remap the Back, Forward, Refresh, and Home actions to whatever key we want, with a note saying that certain keys may be overridden based on what web control has focus. Give the user an actual choice!

Yes... this fix works, but why wasn't this just implemented into the settings or even as an experimental chrome feature? (chrome://flags/)

Es bueno para cuando quieres regresar pero sigue sin tener la opción de ir hacia adelante como lo tenía antes el navegador al presionar shift + backspace

Wrongheaded solution to the problem of lost-data in form-fields. Simply caching form-field values would solve this problem, but in the hubris I've become accustomed to from the Chromium team, they've decided what's best for us. Seriously, go to Hell with your extension, and your browser.

Please re-integrate as a setting. Was super useful, its a pain and waste of resources to have extensions.
