This extension will make ChatGPT your default search engine in Chrome. Once ChatGPT has been set as your default search engine, you can search directly via your browser URL bar.
ChatGPT You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Chats also now include links to sources, such as news articles and blog posts, giving you a way to learn more.
In order to redirect a query to Google search, type "!g [your query]" (e.g. !g foobar) directly in your browser URL bar.

It overrides and replaces the address bar search search engine. ChatGPT search should be optional or in a separate box—not the default. I need Google more often than a ChatGPT summary. If I want ChatGPT, I can just go to the site—It just means I have to click my bookmark bar, rather than the address bar. No extra effort or time spent. This addon is redundant.

Warning, any personalize settings you have in your ChatGPT app are overwritten while this extension is active. disabling it and turning off the SEARCH WEB filter in the app put it back to normal. Other than that, it works like ChatGPT fresh out of the box.
This is nothing more than a lazy way to access ChatGPT quickly via the address bar, which then behaves exactly like the app would if you were typing in it: it starts a whole new conversation each time, saved to your login profile if you're registered. Clicking the extension brings you to this page - it does not "open" anything or do something cool with the current website you're on. Not for me, and not for a lot of people who are serious users of the program and don't need their conversation lists cluttered up with random searches from the address bar on their browser.
I mean it does what it says but it's absolutely wild that it doesn't give you an option to default to temporary search. I'm not talking about any crazy searches here. Internet search is inherently more one-and-done than LLM chats, and I want to catalog the latter and not the former
