Note: You must be logged in to chatgpt.com to use ChatGPT search.

This extension will make ChatGPT your default search engine in Chrome. Once ChatGPT has been set as your default search engine, you can search directly via your browser URL bar.

ChatGPT You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Chats also now include links to sources, such as news articles and blog posts, giving you a way to learn more.

In order to redirect a query to Google search, type "!g [your query]" (e.g. !g foobar) directly in your browser URL bar.

To everyone saying the extension is greyed out, and doesn't work - it's meant to be greyed out. It's a passive extension. To use the extension either: - Type a search into the address bar at the top of your browser. It will now open ChatGPT in search mode instead of Google. - Highlight text and right click. The "Search Google.." option will now be "Search ChatGPT.." If you still want to use Google, prefix your search with "!g" - as in "!g [your search here]" My review: It's fine. Moderately more useful as a default than Google. ChatGPT search mode is incapable of changing its mind though - and I've had frustrating conversations where ChatGPT normal mode will admit that it's wrong, and repeating itself, and then keep on repeating itself. Still more useful with than without for my daily work.

ChatGPT's search results are not very satisfying yet, although Google search is not good either, but ChatGPT cannot completely replace Google, I choose to uninstall first

Any query regarding local needs will be wrong. all links provided will be wrong. it doesn't follow your orders. it doesn't have an updated database; last database update was 2020. If you're a pro subscriber you can't access your pro account. It won't provide religious information it deems "dark." don't even try ask for it to read a pdf. it can't illustrate. THE ONLY REASON YOU SHOULD INSTALL THIS IS IF YOU NEED TO ADD AND EXTRA FEW MINUTES TO EVERY NEW INTERNET TAB AND WINDOW YOU OPEN.

Love the concept, let's keep innovating. Please get this to work on Linux Ubuntu. I encourage you to keep developing this plugin.

This isn't quite what I want. Firstly ChatGPT is too slow to use as a search engine for every search. What I want is an option which appears as a type in the browser bar to optionally send that query to ChatGPT, but by default is handled by my preferred search engine. However, it DID work on Google Chrome Windows. So there's that, but immediately uninstalled.

It works which is nice but it just takes so much longer for it to load up a chat gpt window than the 0.8 seconds it takes for google to load up results. it takes about 5 seconds for the ChatGPT website to load up, open a conversation, prompt, search the web and respond. Google flexes a search engine speed of "161 miliseconds" BUT with the webpage loading it takes a little less than 1 second. Either way its significant and if you're working quickly its kinda annoying to have to wait 4-5 extra seconds for what you'd normally get in under a second.
