Protect My Choices is an extension for users seeking to opt out of interest-based advertising and to help ensure that their opt-out choices are protected. In one step it opts your browser out of interest-based advertising performed by companies participating in the industry self-regulatory programme for online advertising, and protects those opt-out choices by helping to prevent the accidental deletion of cookies that store your choices.
Some things you should know:
1. Protect My Choices applies to interest-based advertising by participating companies. Once you install this extension you will still receive online advertising from participating companies and the web sites you visit may still collect information for other purposes.
2. As more companies join the industry self-regulatory programme, their opt-outs will be added to Protect My Choices. As with all Chrome extensions, you’ll be asked to allow Chrome to update the extension to add new opt-outs. If you do not update the extension it will be disabled until you update it. You can confirm that your opt-outs have been set at http://www.aboutads.info/choices/. You can always check the status of your extensions by clicking Extensions in the Window menu.
3. This extension and your opt-out choices apply only in this browser, so you should set your preferences for other browsers or computers you may use separately.

does not work
Does very little if anything to stop ads or interest based ads online through many websites. Google Chrome doesn't force Yahoo, PlentyOfFish, Bookoo, AOL, FaceBook, Pinterest, and many others to accept your opt-out settings, so I am constantly adding companies and constantly having them come back as sideline ads. SICK OF THIS!!!
It does do just what they tell you it will. What it does do is block over 75% of them and stop you from being tracked when browsing...
I know it does not claim to stop adds, but the adds on mine and my wife's computers has double, tripled, quadrupled since using the sill opt out thing and I wish I could undo it!!!
To the people giving this extension a bad rating because you're "still getting ads". Please take the time to read. Let's make it simple for you: THIS DOES NOT ELIMINATE ADS. It never claims to. The description even says, "you'll still get ads". All it does it keep websites from tracking your browsing in order to deliver specific ads based on your browsing history. Don't rate an extension based on something it's not even designed to do.
First it's needing to put your phone number into a database to keep calling telemarketers away.. now we have to opt-out of web based advertising. I mean, some of it is fine with me, I understand needing to keep them for free sites, but dear lord.. When will it be enough?! I see a Wall-E future in that one.. But this helps. Some of the opts help and reverts back to the basic throw down of ads, instead of the 50 on a single site.
Still getting ads.
Não é eficiente. Simplesmente não funciona.
