Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!
Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.
Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///
Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.
Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

Schade, bisher sehr nützlich, aber mit solchen Berechtigungseinforderungen gibt es nur einen Button den ich bestätige: Entfernen.

Richtig. Das mit den Berechtigungen legt zumindest einen Datenverkauf an ein AdNetwork o.ä. nahe. War eine nette kleine Erweiterung, nun Geschichte.

It used to be a simple extension that does exactly what it supposed to. Now, with the new permissions it demands, I'm not even gonna give it a chance - REMOVED!
This extension is too nosy!
I do not like the New Tab Redirect having more permissions to regulate my personal choices. I will not be re-enabling this new version. I will be removing it. I really enjoyed it the way it was--simple and great at doing a simple task. This is far too much access wanted that I do think a tab redirect should have. I am suspicious of the purpose needed for that many permissions to access my personal choices such as web history, bookmarks, etc.
Used to love this extension; deleting it now because of all the new intrusive permissions required. HACKER! Hopefully someone will create an extension that does the same thing withOUT all the intrusion
