I love the sound of this! The only problem is that it is US only... please expand to Canada soon and let me know when you have!
For about 6 months, this was the killer browser expension that made me feel I couldn't live without chrome. When it stopped working for about 3 ro 4 months, it was really painful, but it seems to have magically started working and not showing the question mark anymore, and thus the super duper fast texting experience is back. My god this extension rocks, especially if you've got a mobile device that lets you use google voice exclusively for calls and text messaging. Hurray for the cloud!!! One more thing to add - any comments about call quality pertain to the google voice infrastructure, and not specifically to this extension, since no calls ever actually touch this extension. I personally have been a user of google voice since it first went live. It was pretty buggy in the beginning, but I've seen a dramatic improvement in call quality and overall reliability, to the point where 80-90% of my calls are placed and received through the browser using my awesome g930 wireless headset. It rocks!
The Google Voice extension broke during the November 2013 updates. It makes Chrome 31 unusably slow by leaking memory and CPU resources. Unfortunately, Google Voice seems to be unmaintained since Google Hangouts was released.
This extension works almost perfectly. The only thing I hate is that when you put in a name of someone to text, it displays their number, and nothing else after you click it. I am always extremely paranoid that I'm about to send a text to the wrong person which might kill a relationship. Other than that... AMAZING
Overall a very good app and must-have for google voice subscribers. Few little quirks that can be a bit annoying but mostly a very useful app
Worked great for a long time until this morning. Keep getting error messages like "the app Google Voice (process has stopped unextpectdly. and The app services framwork has stopped. Please help! I use this number every day! Thanks
It used to work well. Now I never get the bell sound when a message arrives. There is always the question mark, even if I have logged in. When I click on it, instead of opening the pop-up, it opens a new tab to google voice, which very slowly brings me to the google voice inbox. It used to work very well! Sigh...
I find the extension to generally work well. However, I would find the links at the bottom to be more useful if there were at the top of the popup window. That way, I didn't have to scroll down to the bottom of the popup to access the links. It would also be helpful to have the phone type next to the name for text messages of voicemails. I can see who called and how long ago, but I can't tell what phone they called from. If the return communication isn't sent through the GV extension, I don't know what phone to use. Also, as is mentioned before, having this extension coordinate with my Android device's GV app would be great.
Like it. Would love it with a bit more customization. Can not change notification sound.
One of the primary reasons I use Google Voice. Hard to understate just how handy this extension has become. Have had zero issues as well.
