Overview

Product summary

Review the store description, core capabilities, and common use cases.

Make sure to use Chrome version 84+ with this extension, otherwise the automatic selection of the locationbar text doesn't work.

Since Google updated Chrome to version 29, the App overview is no longer shown, when opening a new tab. This extension restores that behaviour to the way it was.

Tip: the keyboard shortcut CTRL+L (Windows/Linux) or CMD+L (macOS) highlights the URL.

v.3.0.0

* Upgraded to manifest V3. The rest of the extension code is exactly the same as version 2.1.0. Please bear in mind that the display of the apps is handled by internal Chrome code. This means that this extension has no influence over how that looks.

* Fixed a bug so that the address bar is highlighted again

Very very slow loading. Seems like everything is loaded in the background then page is reloaded with apps.

Seems like a cool idea because I preferred the old new tab apps display. BUT if chrome gets killed or crashes the prompt to restore the previous session is lost. This is a deal breaker for me.

Automagically selecting the URL does not work for the Mac version.

I tried it for a couple of days, but ditched it. It leaves an address in the omnibar, and you have to manually delete that address to do anything. That's just too frustrating. (I see I'm not the only one... ) Note to developers: clear the omnibar! Note to Google: why are you constantly removing useful features?

I agree with Andrew Bobrovik's comment - delete URL please, because new URL can't be pasted into it without Ctrl+V(for example, in linux you can paste with middle mouse click)

I would have given 5 stars if only the author had not requested the authorization to read the web history.
