Since Google updated Chrome to version 29, the App overview is no longer shown, when opening a new tab. This extension restores that behaviour to the way it was.
Tip: the keyboard shortcut CTRL+L (Windows/Linux) or CMD+L (macOS) highlights the URL.
v.3.0.0
* Upgraded to manifest V3. The rest of the extension code is exactly the same as version 2.1.0. Please bear in mind that the display of the apps is handled by internal Chrome code. This means that this extension has no influence over how that looks.
* Fixed a bug so that the address bar is highlighted again

Great extension, but as other people have already said, upon opening a new tab page, the cursor in the address bar is position *after* "chrome://apps" which means you cannot just start typing, but have to use some manual method of selecting everything (I use ALT+D because I'm used to it). This is on Chrome Version 33.0.1750.117, on Linux Mint. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I didn't have this problem when using this extension on Win7.
wonderful!but no "recently closed" in corner
Works ! All you need :)
fixes a problem that shouldn't exist - Existing NTP looks like a virus got into chrome with feces-level interface design that a 10 year old script-kiddie produced. Whoever approved it should get fired for incompetence.
It would be great if url would clear after loading or at least not be in focus, so that clicking it would select all the text. Now I have to select the url or Cmd+a before I can type in the new url.
Pls clear url field after opening new tab, because its hard to use now!
Thanks you Thanks you!!! I really love that I get this back.... hooray for tab app page!!... Too much code changed and I'm disappointed with the K.I.S.S (Keep it Simple Stupid) from Google... Give me an Advanced button for Chrome Goggle not this 3rd party stuff... That I really REALLY appreciate the programmer(s) that did this but i use to be able to do this myself in chrome settings... just like other browsers still can....
Thank You! Works with the most recent update. Todays date is 2/22/2014 and I just added it. Thank you again!
This extension is such a help for those of us who would rather have our apps as our main start page that I've made a new tutorial video using YOUR extension. Youre extension by far has been the best option I've seen for just getting your apps back in a basic fashion without all those 'extras' that alot of other extensions throw in. Thanks for the great peice of work! http://youtu.be/ABJAfqx1mT0
It would be nice if it showed the bookmarks bar as well. Then it would truly be like the old days.
