I just started using this extension, but it's something that I've been doing on my own for a while with Netflix. This makes it so much easier. Being able to slow down the show, save words/phrases to learn, and have 2 translations at once is such a game changer!
So far so good! I have been learning vocab by doing what I enjoy (watching shows) and by completing games. The app doesn't make learning a language a chore, which is fab! I look forward to see how my vocab will grow over time with the help of Lingopie! :)
Just as others have commented, the ability to pause, and focus on words for vocab and a quiz at the end is such a splendid addition to the various other learning tools available. I hope there are more than a handful of selections on Netflix. A google search showed that it can be used for all of Netflix yet I have not verified such as of yet. Will keep my fingers crossed!
Just awesome. Great utility!
Genius idea, outstanding product. I've used movie subtitles to learn before, but the ability to adjust speed, practice sentences, isolate words, and other options that Lingopie provides takes learning to a whole new level. And it makes it fun! Currently using it to work on my Spanish and Chinese. I am an educator, and might be starting a "Foreign Languages Club" this fall at my school; if so, then this will definitely be a fun tool to engage the kids with.
Lingopie is a great platform for learning a language while watching an entertaining movie or show. I, personally, would love to purchase the lifetime subscription, but the one thing keeping me from doing that is the number of options available. As a disclaimer, I should state that I'm currently learning German so that statement only applies to German. I'm also having my younger sister using Lingopie so I would be grateful if there were more options available for all language levels. The more options are added, and the more often they are added, the more likely I'd be to buy the lifetime subscription because Lingopie is an otherwise great platform that would be very useful to my family and I long-term.
Overall very nice application for learning languages :P there are a few bugs and glitches sometimes but nothing very severe. Although I noticed certain translation errors and hopefully the lingopie team fixes them as soon as possible :) The user interface is also simple and understandable which I personally like very much. Lots of content to watch here in Lingopie and I am enjoying my experience here :) Keep it up Lingopie !!!
Agree with everyone's comments - very good way to learn languages, and i've tried online tutors, and other methods. Could expand the range of shows a bit more (though there is still a very good selection). good stuff!
Here and there I find missing shows that would make me continue my subscription. If I don't get through Kleo then of course I might still... but there's no Grey's Anatomy or ER. I need a better show than Amsterdam (a little too sappy). There is way too many dark comedies and dramas for my taste. I definitely want the medical shows and there's just so much content with Grey's anatomy that I really hope it gets added soon. The user experience is nearly flawless. I love the sounds from adding vocab! I switch occasionally from actively watching the show to adding vocab and that way I keep a great pace. Other than the lack of shows I haven't found anything like this. That being said, it was 2 years since I finally decided to try Lingopie and I would say that it's like a little game for adding Vocab! It becomes fun and a refresher for the show as well, and I don't even like to watch TV in general... but with this I can actively participate and there's even group and individual lessons I haven't tried yet.
Such a fun way to learn! Though I have noticed a few errors in translations, I understand that this is A LOT to put together and I appreciate the effort from the Lingopie team. I am still learning a ton while enjoying some good shows I have never seen before :)
