Continually stuck in a loop of Creating a recovery image, stage 3/3. What am I supposed to do with a corrupt Chromebook? I shan't be recommending Chromebook to the 200 schools I am a tech advisor to.
Doesnt work, will not write image to USB just crashes chrome.....
work well before, but fail to write image recently, and the chrome will unexpectly close.
The utility will NOT allow us to create recovery drives. Several of us are using Chrome version 95.0.4638.69 and it will fail every time. Trying to convert the .bin using the local image crashes the utility immediately, and trying to download through the utility crashes as it tries to verify and write the image. We have used about 8 different USB drives. My coworker, who hasn't allowed Chrome to update, can do the recovery media. They are running a Chrome version of 94. Please fix this ASAP, as we have devices that are needed for state testing.
Because of all the 2021 updates and their new security model for Linux and no longer supporting chrome apps, I can no longer flash images to my Raspberry Pi or my RG351M. Seriously, the old recovery utility was my go-to when I needed an image flashed on an SD card or a USB drive. Worked every time with any file type that I needed it to. Now, that's not the case. Linux apps rarely ever work now so those are off the table. Using the console to flash an image no longer works. When I get out my laptop, it's usually because I need to do THINGS I NEED A COMPUTER CAN ONLY DO!! So now, and this is after defending Chrome OS for years, I'm back to the side of the day one argument that Chrome OS and Chromebooks are useless if you need to do anything a PC or a Mac does.
Not working. Chrome browser keeps crashing when attempting to write to SD card.
Ich habe drei verschiedene Windowsrechner mit drei verschiedenen USB bzw. sd-karten versucht. Immer ist zum Abschluss Chrome abgestürzt oder das entzippen hat nicht funktioniert
I manage around 100 Chromebooks and hadn't had any come back that needed the full recovery for a while until a couple days ago. When I went to the Utility that I had been using successfully in the past it was a surprise when it crashed in the middle of the process. So I tried it on another computer and it crashed. Then I added it to the new Edge for fun...and it crashed. Frustrated, I came here to see if anyone else was having that issue and suffice to say, I'm not alone. Long story short, I followed the tips that dunnojustin77 N outlined in his post a day or so ago and it worked. **What fixed it for me was to make sure I ran Chrome as an Administrator (Right click the chrome icon on the desktop and click "Run as Administrator")** That way it wouldn't crash when it was requesting elevated permissions from the system because it already had them. I wanted to make my own post so hopefully more people can see this tip and hopefully it will help some people out. It seems true with Google products, YOU are the warranty/support.
1. Before you launch the extension, Please close Chrome and right click on shortcut and run chrome in Administrator mode. 2. Launch Extension 3. Enter code from what the Chromebook is showing at the lower mid of screen 4. Backup any files from the USB drive you are going to use. 5. Format it using windows format tool 6. Run extension 7. Follow the steps 8. Finish adding recovery img to drive 9. Connect drive to chrome book 10. Profit!
The best advice I have been given to fix the issue is to first power off the chromebook, next pick it up, and finally carry it across the room and drop it in the nearest trash can. But be careful not to get burned because this thing is HOT garbage.
