This extension stops YouTube HTML5 and Flash players from auto-buffering videos. Using this add-on (extension) you can save bandwidth and also prevent YouTube on multiple tabs from buffering media simultaneously.
You will have to click on the player to allow buffering of the media files. Once a player is buffered, it can play multiple tracks. There is no need to activate the player on each new track (so you can easily watch playlists for instance).

Works as intended aside from it breaking downloaded videos via yt premium. it stops the video but it can’t be resumed (smth smth its streaming a local file not a url? idk)

It works
It didn't get it working and buffering stills on and the video keeps stopping.
Excellent. Doesn't prevent buffer like I hoped, but does stop videos from playing every time they try.

Thanks for this, I've been looking for an extension for Autoplay to stop, but none worked until I found this. It works 100% for me
I can now have less headaches with this.
The extension used to block the video from playing automatically when opening a video. Now it is opening an web page something like this: webextension.org (creator of the extension) when the extension is updated. Wish the creator stopped that. Uninstalled it, installed an tab auto closer: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tabs-auto-close/mbodbfopnnihkmkhcojmieknngpcalhf, and added it to my list.
