High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

This adds a div with the ID "hc_extension_bkgnd" with a width and height of 99,999 pixels effectively breaking the scroll bar on most sites. On some sites it just doesn't do anything. I'm not keeping it long enough to discover its other problems.

Can't do the high contrast view. It is just annoying. And the other high contrast function had fuzzy edges. It takes away the toolbar I needed in AOL randomly. Also, what I really want is to be able to see when files are downloaded, and what I am typing right now! This light gray on lighter gray background they like to use just doesn't make sense to me! Even the reviews on this page are light gray on gray! What masochist chooses colors like that and I have yet to see how to change to something like, black on white! Is that so radical?

Terrible glitches, slows speed, and leaves large white spaces when attempting to darken screens. Do not use this extension.
This makes my reading better and love the visual effects
