High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

Helps with my vision problems. Looking at "bright" screens for a long period of time starts to hurt my eyes and swells the neurofibromatosis tumors inside my head - causing massive headaches... this has been a lifesaver. Before, I just turned the contrast and brightness on the monitor down, which didn't help me to see the online written word well, but I had try anything to help. This program has been a god-send, but wish had more visual choices to choose from. ... Maybe down the road, who knows.

This extension does allow for you to edit how web pages look. I got it for the 'Higher Contrast' option, which it does improve things. HOWEVER: (1) This extension messes with your scroll bar and it makes the scroll bar infinite. This is the biggest problem, which will make you NOT WANT THIS. (2) You cannot customize how much contrast you want, they are all preset. I find this to be lazy and disappointing. (3) I also noticed that when you are on YouTube, the website is contrasted (which is good), HOWEVER, when you play a video and go to Full Screen, it looks like you are viewing it in a fog. All the colors are washed out. Why I want an extension like this is that it would always irritate me how light the grays are on websites. Sometimes the gray, especially on google.com is hardly noticeable unless I lower my head and look closely. To me, it is obvious that the gray should be seen, so without digging through my laptop settings and messing with things, this is pleasant to have it where it is easily accessible and easy to set back. Plus this app makes everything easier on the eyes. It does what it is supposed to do. I had this problem with grays in Microsoft Office, but since I don't have it installed I can't confirm. If so, I may just have to make the changes to my settings on my laptop. *If you know of a solution for me on my laptop settings, I would be extremely appreciative if you left a reply. Thanks in advance.
