Overview

Product summary

Review the store description, core capabilities, and common use cases.

Chrome doesn't allow you to configure a new tab URL.

It always opens its New Tab Page with a search bar and some browsing history.

With this extension, you can use the options page to store a link to a page or even a path to a local file that will be loaded when a new tab is created.

It is very lightweight and easy to use!

For people who prefer dark mode, try enabling the following Chrome builtin flag:

chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark

Ridiculous that chrome needs an extension for this...

Pretty simple, does what it says it does and not more instead of trying to do everything. I wanted to have my own custom bookmarks page as a new tab and this delivers. Also, kudos on the quick fix for the local URL that was broken due to chrome update.

Hello everyone ... beginning with Chrome 118, extensions will need the "Allow access to file URLs" setting enabled from the chrome://extensions page to open a local file as the new tab page. Every new tab extension in the web store is impacted similarly.

I use this extension to display an HTML file as my new tab page, but it has stopped working in the latest release :(

The extension stopped working with Chrome. I used this extension to display my HTML file as my Chrome theme. But now it has stopped working. Some permission requests when I open with Edge.

worked like a charm until the sudden permission change. EDIT: Now works like a charm. Thanks a lot Google for adding that stupid setting.

sudden permission change made me remove this extension. Replace the page that you see when opening a new tab <- required for this to function Read the icons of the websites that you visit <- should not be required for this application. Read and change your bookmarks <-- should also not be required for this application. seems like the author is starting to subtly collect user info.
