Make sure to use Chrome version 84+ with this extension, otherwise the automatic selection of the locationbar text doesn't work.
Since Google updated Chrome to version 29, the App overview is no longer shown, when opening a new tab. This extension restores that behaviour to the way it was.
Tip: the keyboard shortcut CTRL+L (Windows/Linux) or CMD+L (macOS) highlights the URL.

* Upgraded to manifest V3. The rest of the extension code is exactly the same as version 2.1.0. Please bear in mind that the display of the apps is handled by internal Chrome code. This means that this extension has no influence over how that looks.
* Fixed a bug so that the address bar is highlighted again

Omnibar NEEDS to be empty. Please it's so annoying like this! I have to uninstall until this is fixed.
6/1 現在、バージョンは 1.1.1 ですが、 タブを開いた後にカーソルが URLの末尾ではなく URL文字列が選択された状態になっています。 5/18 投稿時のバージョンも更新日 2014年3月8日 の 1.1.1 だったはずなので、 Chrome が 35.0.1916.114 に上げたのが改善に効果があったみたいです。（おそらく。） 改善されたので評価を★４から★５に変えました。 < 2014-05-18 投稿分 > v31.x から v32.x 以降の 34.0.1847.137 に上げて、新しいタブのアプリページが表示されなくなったので入れました。 v31.x 以前と同じ動作、表示ができ、シンプルかつ十分だと思います。 ただ Reo Hokazono さんも書かれている以下の点を改善希望。 Omnibox が自動的に Select された状態で開きますが、「chrome://apps/」という文字列の末尾にカーソルがあって、 そのまま検索語を入れ検索しようとしてもその前の文字列とくっついてしまします。 その文字列をクリアしてカーソルを配置して頂けるとより便利だと思います。 Requeste clear text in Omnibox.
When opening a new tab, the cursor is placed in the address bar, next to: "chrome://apps/". Very annoying.
Niet te geloven dat ik hier een extension voor moet installeren. Waarom mag ik zelf niet kiezen wat de niewe tab opent? Waarom een google search en bookmarks? Je kan googlen van de addressbar en de bookmarks staan daar vlak boven. De app-pagina is tenminste wat nuttiger.

Hi I would like to give you two tips. First: Would like leaving the "url field" without the "chrome :/ / apps /", because if you open a new tab with the "Ctrl + T" for a quick search on your favorite search engine you have, you get writing from the "url", getting "chrome :/ / apps / [example text]." I do not know if I could make myself understood. Second: Would like to put the bookmarks bar set above the list of apps? In my opinion and for my use I think would be better and more practical way.
It is still not selecting the URL in the omnibox. Please fix it.
This really helps but it disappeared when I went to open chrome now it's just a black page...
